The Arts Council of Northern Ireland and The Arts Council - An Chomhairle Ealaíon have launched a joint Traditional Arts funding programme. Entitled “Turas” (“Journey”), the €88,000 program covers all areas of the Traditional Arts, such as music, song, dance, storytelling and language arts. “This new joint initiative will offer a new level of support in addition to the basis already in place by both Arts Councils, and will benefit the entire Traditional Arts community throughout the island of Ireland,” said Liz Doherty, Traditional Arts Specialist at the Arts Council - An Chomhairle Ealaíon. “It will also encourage, in a very pro-active way, new and imaginative developments within the Traditional Arts world.” Paul Flynn, Traditional Arts Officer at the Arts Council of Northern Ireland said, “There has always been co-operation between traditional artists throughout this island and the Turas scheme hopes to encourage this partnership and help produce some exciting and memorable Traditional Arts collaborative projects.” For more information, CLICK HERE
