This year, the NAC and its partners (Joburg Metro, Gauteng Province and the Department of Arts and Culture) won the bid to host the next World Summit on Arts and Culture in South Africa. A memorandum of agreement was signed in March this year and the summit will take place in Johannesburg from 21 – 25 September 2009. The summit will be a celebration of and investigation into the impact of the arts, artists and arts organisations on culture, society and the economy. The Summit is a seminal international event on the arts calendar that brings together many of the most influential people and institutions.
