European Festival Research Project

European Festivals Association,
27 August 2007, Belgium

The European Festival Research Project (EFRP) is an informal international consortium of researchers from various disciplines, brought together to analyze the dynamics of artistic festivals today and study the explosion of festivals, leading to a sort of festivalization of the daily life.
Initiated by Dragan Klaic (Amsterdam,) EFRP defined its research models and approach in Brussels in May 2004. EFRP seeks to create a critical mass of research papers, studies, publications and debates in order to produce by the end of 2007 some tentative conclusions, trends, and recommendations to festival operators, public authorities as subsidy givers and potential sponsors. An edited book on festival politics, programming and governance will be produced in 2008. Information available in both English and French.
