The 14th UNESCO Seminar on Communication - Bogotá, Colombia

Between October 10 and 12, 2007 and in Bogotá, the Universidad Javeriana will carry out the 14th UNESCO Seminar on Communication “Communication and Social Change”, which seeks to understand communication’s role in social and political transformation processes and stresses the need to design and put through communication strategies for social change.
The speakers will approach theoretically recent research on the subject and will analyse good practices of communications for social change. This year will have as participants Jesús Martín-Barbero, Éric Maigret, Ómar Rincón, Ámparo Cadavid, Jair Vega, Jeanine El’Gazi, Rosa María Alfaro, and Germán Rey.
Discussions will deal with these subjects:
• Communication, development and social change: notions
• Communication and social change fields: health and communication; education and communication; environment and communication; civil participation and communication; human rights and communication; gender and communication; ethnic minorities and communication; peace, reconciliation and communication
• Good practices in communication for social change
• Broadcasting and media agendas and cultures
