54m euros for cities of art

AGI,
31 October 2007, Italy

In the coming three years the cities of art will receive 54 million euros, ten million in the first two years and thirty million in the third. This is written in the government bill approved today by the cabinet, as measure against the deterioration of these cities. "This is a very important proposal that goes against the spreading of deterioration, especially in places where there is huge pressure from tourism on a daily basis" underlined vice premier Francesco Rutelli. For the moment the funds will be allocated only by the Ministry for cultural activities. "I hope that not only the Ministry for cultural activities but also the Ministry for economy and the Parliament decide to allocate further resources" said Rutelli "from now on it's a matter of trying to integrate these resources".
