Artsvote intitiative for 2008 presidential election

Americans for the Arts,
08 January 2008, USA

Americans for the Arts' Action Fund has launched a new, national initiative designed to promote the arts during the 2008 presidential campaign.
ArtsVote2008 seeks to secure bold, new policy proposals in support for the arts and arts education in America from candidates during the 2008 presidential campaign.
The Fund's website contains campaign news; national, regional, and local research information; and facts and figures about the arts. The site is updated regularly with comprehensive and timely information, ranging from suggested arts-related proposals to economic data and ArtsVote events and activities.
The Arts Action Fund has provided a set of 10 arts-related topics with bulleted policy proposals to all candidates, asking that they adopt these or similar proposals as their own. The ten topics are:

  1. Supporting Art, for Arts’ Sake
  2. Arts Education
  3. The Arts & Economic Development
  4. Housing & Urban Development
  5. Transportations Programs
  6. Healthcare & the Arts
  7. Rural Initiatives
  8. Public Diplomacy
  9. National & Community Service
  10. National Arts Leadership Opportunities
