The European Festivals Association (EFA) is an umbrella organisation representing more than 100 quality festivals, 11 national festivals associations and 4 cultural networks in 38 countries in Europe and beyond.
EFA is looking for a Secretary General in its office in Belgium (Ghent and Brussels). The role includes organising and leading the daily activities of the Association concentrated around the following main tasks:
- giving a service to the members of the organisation,
- organising supporting activities for Arts Festival in Europe and the world such as training programs,
- workshop for members and non-members, research, publications, etc …
- setting up all international meetings of the association
- extending membership
- improving collaboration between members
- leading the office with an international staff
- lobbying for the festival sector and representing the festival sector on the international political level
- setting up international activities so that the political institutions are aware about the importance of festivals in the cultural world and in society today.
Applicants should have experience in international cultural activities, must be available to live in Belgium and travel extensively, and must speak at least three languages; English is essential; French or German are preferable.
