The Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealáion has announced that the application window is now open for the Jerome Hynes Fellowship, an award that aims to develop outstanding cultural leaders for Ireland.
The Fellowship is an initiative of the UK-based Clore Leadership Programme, which annually attracts in the region of twenty-five exceptional individuals who have the potential to play a significant role across a wide range of cultural activity.  The total value of the Fellowship is approximately €70,000 (i.e. €50,000 from the Arts Council and Sterling £15,000 from Clore).
The recipient of the Jerome Hynes Fellowship will take part in a year-long programme commencing in September (the programme may also be undertaken over a longer period).  The programme includes two intensive residential leadership courses; professional development through mentoring, tuition and group learning; an in-depth research project, supervised by a Higher Education Institute; and a period of secondment, including experience of managing a challenging project.
Mary Cloake, Director of the Arts Council, said: "We are delighted to be involved with this award in conjunction with the Clore Leadership Programme, which has the excellent aim of nurturing a new generation of cultural leaders for Ireland. This is a remarkable opportunity for an outstanding person to develop their leadership skills, talent and confidence within the cultural sector. It is our hope that the example of Jerome Hynes will inspire the recipients of the Fellowship that has been named in his honour to be just as bold and passionate in their contribution to the development of the arts in Ireland."
