Creative Britain: New Talents for the New Economy

DCMS,
06 February 2008, England

Creative Britain: New Talents for the New Economy documents 26 commitments, which outline how the Government will take action to support the creative industries.

The publication of the new strategy – ‘Creative Britain’ is a major stage in the Creative Economy Programme (CEP) which began in 2005 and has previously seen the production of the CEP Working Group Reports (in 2006) and the report ‘Staying Ahead’, published by the Work Foundation (in 2007).

Many organisations and individuals have contributed ideas and information into the CEP. These contributions live on, in their own right and in the impact they have made to gaining recognition and understanding of the need for a fuller and better programme of action to support the creative economy.   The CEP will now continue, to fulfil the commitments and other initiatives outlined in ‘Creative Britain’ but also to develop and build on the inputs to the programme so that the whole baseline moves forward.
