The Director, Division of Public Programs, is responsible for implementing and carrying out programs which make the humanities available to the general population of the United States. This effort includes museums, historical organizations, libraries, archives, and other institutions as well as radio and television. 

The incumbent is responsible for the management of the review process; development, recommendation and implementation of agency policies; and management of a diverse professional and support staff.  The incumbent, in consultation with other appropriate NEH offices, develops program review and budget materials and also oversees the preparation of the Division’s offers and awards in cooperation with the Office of Grant Management and the Office of the Chairman.  The incumbent conveys information about the Division’s grant programs to the public; supervises the preparation of funding guidelines and other publications; and stays abreast of developments in the humanities that may affect the operation of the division.
