The National Congress on Theater begins

The province of Lara will welcome participants in the National Congress on Theater.

From July 14 to July 17, Lara will become the national capital town of theatre, the Hotel Jirahara will receive professionals of this artform who will give life to the National Congress on Theater, an event organized by the Institute of the Scenic and Musical Arts (IAEM), ascribed to the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture of Venezuela.

The spokesmen, selected during the consultation journeys carried out throughout the national territory on last June, will represent the 24 provinces of the country. This will guarantee that different outlooks will be analysed and considered in this social gathering and, thus, that the agreements arrived to will take into account the cultural diversity of the different provinces.

To set out the strategic areas of the national plan, to create a legal framework for cultural activity in general and for national performing arts, specifically, as well as to propose organization models for the members of the theatrical and circus community, are some of the objectives that hope to be fulfilled with this event.

Fourteen working tables will deal with six central topics: legal framework for national theatre; coparticipation; research and training; the circus in Venezuela; international policy and the national culture system.

This initiative will open up a space for debate and reflection from which will spring the policy guidelines that will accompany the National Plan for Theatre and Circus 2007 – 2013, which will have as a foundation the National Strategic Plan 2007 – 2013. Thus, the National Plan for Theatre and Circus 2007 – 2013 will be a document that will really take into account the concerns, needs and proposals of all those who take part in national theatre.

Attendance at the event is free and open to the community of Lara’s province.
