Darwish takes Palestinian Cause to world scene

Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development H.E. Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais said Monday the late prominent Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish had added a deep dimension to the Palestinian Cause, taking it to the international scene through his strong-worded poetical works as a humanitarian, national question for liberation of people, homeland and holy shrines.

''He didn't leave a pain without portraying it in his poetry, he didn't forget a camp without erecting a tent in his verse .....he was the parallel line of all struggles.......

he was the historian and publisher of pain,'' Al Owais said while addressing a grand ceremony held here at the Culture Palace in Ramallah for marking the 40th day anniversary of the demise of the great poet.

The function was attended by Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Salam Fiadh, Moroccan Minister of Culture Thuraya Omran and a number of senior officials.

''Whatever we do and say, we will never give this passionate poet some of the merits he deserves..... he is the bearer of the word against the machine of repression ...our loyalty to this great summit poet is to revive his message through preservation of his valuable literary and humanitarian legacy and keep alive the noble objectiv
