October 7 in St. Petersburg under the auspices of the Russian Federation and Vladimir Putin,  a meeting was held on the development of national cinema.

From 2010 the state will allocate 4 billion rubles a year to promoting the film industry.

"Our country came out of the crisis cinematography. Over the last 10-12 years, almost from scratch a film industry has a great chance" - said Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation A. Avdeev after the meeting.

The Government of the Russian Federation intends to amend legislation governing the current way in which work commissions are selected. "These commissions should be composed of authoritative people - well-known film actor, directors, politicians and above all - the State", - said A. Avdeyev. The main problems he cited until now have been staffing issues and problems of modernization within the film industry. In addition, he stated it is necessary to increase the number of cinemas in the country.
