Newly reopened Palace of Fine Arts

The building, opened 52 years ago, in 1956, has been completely restored and reconditioned to suit current demands. The works have been carried out by the Office of Engineering Works Supervisors of the state.

The building that will be administered by the Ministry of Culture, with the backing of a newly created board by President Fernandez will manage the Directorate General of Fine Arts and the different companies artistic officers, including the National Symphony Orchestra, National Choir, National Classical Ballet, the National Folkloric Ballet, National Theater Company, Theater Rolling Dominicano and the National Lyrical Singers. In addition, the National Artistic Training Specialist (SINFAE) and the Coordination of Music, Theater, Dance and Visual Arts. Also, the Administrative Office and the Technical Directorate of Fine Arts, as well as areas of General Services, among others.

The inaugural event for this building which is considered to be the most important cultural centre in the Dominican Republic will will be chaired by President Leonel Fernández and attended by various personalities and cultural leaders from different countries.
