Ministry of Culture,
13 November 2008, Brazil

Juca Ferreira, Minister of Culture, will appoint the actor Sérgio Mamberti as President of Brazil’s National Foundation for Arts (Funarte), on Monday November 17th.

The Ceremony will take place at 3pm, at the Auditorium Gilberto Freyre of Palácio Gustavo Capanema, at Rio de Janeiro (Rua da Imprensa, nº 16, Downtown). On this occasion, the actions and guidelines orienting the public policies of Funarte for the next two years will be presented.

The presence of Mamberti as head of the institution represents the current interest in restructuring Funarte with the objective of consolidating its field of action in the national territory, reaffirm its relevance in the Brazilian artistic field and to strengthen its staff.

For the Ministry, Funarte is strategic in the formulation, implementation and development of public policies for music, performing arts and visual arts, through programs and projects directed to support and encourage artistic production in different fields.
