Job Description :
(a) Play leading role in a team of curators & asst curators to develop & curate exhibitions focusing on the nation collection of historical SEA art in a build up to the gallery opening & beyond;
(b) Provide supporting leadership in review of current collection via purchase, donation & loans by building on new & existing professional networks, arts/cultural communities, collectors/patrons & collaborators/partners;
(c) Oversee/Undertake research on collection & methodology pertaining to SEA art, to contribute to scholarship (incl publication), historical art museology & connectivity between heritage & art expressions;
(d) Work with gallery programmes, education & outreach team to incorporate educational interpretive layer in major exhibitions.
(e) Oversee division administrative functions including budget planning, liaise with museum volunteers on programmes & ensuring division staff are equipped with relevant knowledge, skills & capabilities.
Job Requirements :
The ideal candidate would have in-depth working knowledge of the latest developments in the arts and museum industry. At least 8 -10 years experience in curation and leading dynamic teams, subject knowledge of Southeast Asia art and ability to reach in primary sources and relevant linguistic abilities is a must. He/she should also have good interpersonal, project management skills and have at least a Masters degree in Art History, Theory, Criticism or other related cultural and museum studies.
