NCCA website named best e-government website in 11th Philippine Web Awards

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts’ official web site, http://www.ncca.gov.ph, has been named the “Best E-government Web Site” in 11th Philippine Web Awards held at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City last Feb. 27.

The NCCA web site won over the web sites of three other government offices namely: the Department of Science and Technology One-Stop Information Shop of Technologies in the Philippines; the Force Reconnaisance Battalion of the Philippine Marines, and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration Overseas Exit Clearance Delivery unit.

Head of the NCCA Management Information Systems Myra Brucelo and Web Content Editor received the award from Sec. Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua III, chair of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology.

The award for best E-government web site is awarded to web sites of national agencies and offices. The NCCA web site passed through the semi-finals round based on points system until it reached the finals round in January of 2009.

Among the judges during the finals round are the following: Anette Juellund Auyang, Regional Director of Yahoo; Jeff Bakalar, Review Editor for CNET Networks; Jason Coates, Senior Communications Manager of Yahoo in North, South, and Southeast Asia; Jonas Diego, Founder and Creative Director of the Art Studio Robo Monkey Pixel Fighters; Harry Mccracken, winner of the American Business Media’s Award for Editorial Integrity; and Peter Pezaris, CEO and Founder of Multiply.Com.

The Philippine Web Awards is an award-giving body that annually recognizes the best Filipino-created web sites and honors the individuals and team s behind them.

The NCCA web site team is composed of the following NCCA key staff: Ryan Arengo, Web/Graphics Artist, Mark Anthony Cruzat, Programmer and Reinerio Alba, Web Content Editor.
