Digital Culture Policy

Ministerio de Cultura,
02 June 2009, Colombia

How can Colombian culture be strengthened through the citizens’ creative use of new information and communication technologies?

New information and communication technologies are not only data transportation channels; they are also a powerful source of cultural revolution worldwide. The Ministry of Culture designed a new digital culture policy to face the challenges and possibilities that new technologies pose to the country’s culture. This policy is intended to strengthen Colombia’s cultural wealth through the support and appropriation of these new technologies.

In this policy document, the Ministry defines how it understands new information and communication technologies and sets up a model to promote their consumption and also information production in digital environments among Colombian citizens.

The Ministry created a virtual forum to listen to Colombian citizens’ considerations on this policy document and thus build the policy together. We invite all citizens to get to know this document and to take part in this discussion.
