World Summit speakers

IFACCA,
10 September 2009, South Africa

IFACCA and the National Arts Council of South Africa are delighted to announce T. Sasitharan (Singapore), Frank Panucci (Australia), Alvaro Restrepo (Colombia) and Yvette Vaughan-Jones (UK) as speakers for the panel session on: Intercultural Dialogue through the Arts: Best International Practice models. The session will be chaired by Dr Andreas Wiesand, Executive Director of the ERICarts, the European Institute for Comparative Cultural Research, and co- author of the report commissioned for the World Summit, Intercultural dialogue through the arts and culture? Concepts, policies, programmes, practices available here.

Intercultural dialogue is the new buzz phrase, at least in the creative sector of western democracies. But what does it mean? What is its intended purpose?
And how do the arts fit in? IFACCA, in association with Ericarts, has been conducting global research in this area. This panel, to be held on the morning of 24 September, will outline some of the major findings of the research and present case studies of good practice from different continents.
