At the beginning of the meeting, Ángeles Albert presented the main priorities of the Directorate General concerning museums and the need to enhance networking and a promote permanent interconnection between the state institutions.
The session concentrated on the development of the Network of Museums, that the Council of Ministers agreed on 31 July, to promote means of cooperation and participation between different public administrations and social agents in the management of museums.
Digital Network of Museum Collections
One of the central themes of the meeting revolved around the upcoming release of the website of the Ministry of Culture in the first phase of the Digital Network of Museum Collections in Spain (CER.ES), which will make available to users from a single point of consultation, information about collections of Spanish museums of different thematic areas of varying geographic location and diverse ownership and administration unit. This digital network will provide a catalog of the collections of Spanish museums. The presentation of the first version of CER.ES is planned for early 2010.
