Seoul City is holding a UCC (User Created Content) contest with the theme of the ‘Story of Seoul on Earth' and an event of ‘Making a map of Seoul with people around the world' from Nov. 16 to Dec. 31, as part of its project to increase the world's awareness of Seoul.

Participants can submit their work to the website of the Streaming Seoul 2009 contest.

Your own heart-beating - a fun story about Seoul

The theme of the ‘Story of Seoul on Earth' for the UCC contest consists of three topics: Your own fun story about Seoul, a story about Seoul that you want to let people around the world know, and a short film featuring Seoul as the background.

The contest is open to people around the world and participants can create any kind of UCC format (no more than 3 minutes). Seoul City will give six awards.

For a Korean national or a foreigner living in South Korea who wins the Grand Prize, he or she will receive 10 million won (US$8,645). For a contestant in South Korea who wins the First Prize, he or she will receive 2 million won. The prize of 2 million won can be won by each of four contestants who participated into the contest from around the world.

‘Making vivid map of Seoul' with people around the world

During the event of ‘Making a map of Seoul,' contestants can upload their photos and videos on Seoul by topics, such as ‘Gives a beautiful color to Seoul' or ‘Find a site to take a rest in Seoul,' to the contest's Web site. The photos and videos can be seen at Google Maps and Yahoo!'s Web site.

The event of ‘Making a map of Seoul' will help spread information on Seoul worldwide by providing Seoul's information on tourist destinations and other sites to be released at websites such as Google (YouTube, Picassa) and Yahoo! (Flickr).
