The Culture Minister presented in Brussels the cultural agenda of the Spanish Presidency of the European Union

The Minister of Culture, Angeles Gonzalez-Sinde, presented today at the headquarters of the European Council in Brussels a broad cultural agenda to be developed during the six months of the Spanish Presidency of the European Union. The aim is to show the valuable and diverse cultural heritage of Spain, connected with modernity and innovation.

Also during this semester will be two meetings of Ministers of Culture of the European Union: an informal Council on 31 March in Barcelona, which will be preceded by a grand meeting between civil society and public authorities on the development of cultural industries at a  European level.

The second meeting will be the Council of Ministers to be held on May 11 in Brussels, which will address issues such as the sector's contribution to regional development, culture and local culture as an engine of economic change or development model digital content, among others.

The Ministry of Culture will coordinate several high level meetings on subjects such as European cultural heritage protection, the digitization of the cinema, the mobility of artists and the retrieval and dissemination of orphan works in the current cultural environment.
