Ministério da Cultura,
11 February 2010, Brazil

Juca Ferreira, Minister of Culture, signed the document appointing, for a two-year period, the representatives of the Brazilian Committee for Contemporary Arts Internationalization and Economy (CBIEAC), past Thursday, February 11, published in the official gazette.

The Committee was created as part of the Brazil Contemporary Art Program of the Culture Policy Secretariat of the Ministry of Culture (SPC/MinC) whose objective is to carry out actions to strengthen the national craft and visual arts market, and to promote its internationalization.

The group will devise measures to regulate international commerce of Brazilian visual arts by defining export criteria and by promoting measures to make the exportation of national products to other countries easier. Besides setting up international commerce norms, the Program should also launch grants to support national artists to promote their artwork in exhibitions overseas.

The Committee is made up of representatives of national public and private institutions related to arts. It has a wide representation from the nation’s visual arts sector. Alfonso Henrique Martins Luz and Maribel Alves Fierro Sevilla, SPC/MinC’s staff members, will coordinate the team.
