Cultural Observatories: Mapping Infrastructure and Events

This is the first book on Observatories and the creation of cultural maps. The appearance of cultural observatories is a recent phenomenon that originated within a society in which information and knowledge are key driving forces for a country’s social, cultural, economic, and political development. Reference point for creative industries, among its key objectives are: observation, supervision and promotion of information for the cultural sector, to deepen the analysis of each community’s reality, and to search for and promote information that contributes to make visible the impact of cultural phenomena and to foresee future scenarios. To be able to identify and analyse the cultural offer it is necessary to create maps that allow us to know more about the state of infrastructure and cultural events. The cultural map model for Observatories is a fundamental tool to measure, analyse and assess current and future cultural policies.
