14 May 2010, Panama

The project I + D, promoted by the Instituto Nacional de Cultura (INCAC) jointly with Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá (UTP) and the Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos (OEI), aims at strengthening the capacity of interdisciplinary professionals with new tools for development and at increasing the capacity of the culture sector.

The project I + D, culture as a tool for development, will last two years and will include two activities, a Course on Culture and Development and a Series of Conferences that will take place at the National Library.

According to María Eugenia Herrera de Victoria, Director of the Instituto Nacional de Cultura, the project invites contributions that will be fundamental to creating a cultural policy in Panama.
As part of the ceremony, INAC, UTP and OEI signed an agreement according to which they commit to open up spaces for culture to contribute to society’s growth. With a joint effort, we can create a better Panama.

The conference “Culture, a Tool for Development” was also carried out as part of the event. It was given by Fernando Vicario Leal, OEI Culture Area Coordinator and José Antonio Mac Gregor, international consultant on culture.
