Santos Castro, new General Director of Policy and Cultural Industries

The Council of Ministers, on advice from the Minister of Culture, Ángeles González-Sinde, today approved the appointment of Santos Castro Fernandez as General Director of Policy and Cultural Industries
Santos Castro (Santa Colomba de Somoza, Leon, 1949) has a Bachelor Degree in Political Sciences, in Philosophy and Languages, in Geography and History and Sociology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, He has a Degree in Law from the University of Alcalá de Henares and Bachelor of Philosophy by the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas. He belongs to the upper body of the State Civil Administrators.
In the academic field he has been a professor at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in History of Ideas and Political Forms and History of Sociology. Within the state administration he has held various positions including: Secretary General of the National Institute of Industry (1983-1989), Technical Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence (1990 - 1993), Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1993 -1996). He has also been Deputy Director for Europe, FAO (1997-1998), Director of Institutional Relations of the General Society of Authors and Publishers (2001-2004), Director General of Military Recruitment and Training (2004-2006).
Currently, he holds the post of General Director of Institutional Relations of the Ministry of Defence.
