The Ministry of Culture will have a budget of 789.3 million euros for 2011

The objectives are to strengthen citizens' access to culture and the development and promotion of cultural industries.

The Minister of Culture, Ángeles González-Sinde, today presented data from her department's budget for 2011, which will have 789.3 million euros.

It is an austerity budget that connects to adjustment measures to reduce the deficit. The measures have been taken in the current year under the Plan for Expenditure Review of the State Administration for 2011-2015, approved by the Government on 20 May.

The broad strategic objectives that govern the cultural budget are:

• Strengthen access to culture by strengthening the processes of online accessibility to cultural resources, the promotion of co-production, development of circuits and measures to support people with disabilities.

• To encourage and promote cultural industries and the creation of their relevance in terms of GDP and employment. The lines of action to strengthen their role as a future strategic sector will focus on: protecting intellectual property strategy for sustainable economy, and support assistance towards human resource training, improved business management, increased productivity and business connectivity and joint action.

From the total of 789.3 million euros, 495 million are allocated to different government agencies, broken down as follows:

- INAEM: 161.9 M €
- ICAA: 106.5 M €
- Infrastructure Management: 90.3 M €
- Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía: 49.6 M €
- Museo del Prado: 43.9 M €.
- National Library of Spain: 42.8 M €
