Arts Award, a national qualification which aims to deepen young people's engagement with the arts, has celebrated its fifth birthday.
Young awardees helped to coordinate last night's birthday event in London, to mark the anniversary of the programme - which has seen over 35,000 young people achieving awards since its launch in 2005.
Arts Award partners, centres and young people involved in the programme have also been busy posting birthday messages and even mini-productions on the Arts Award Facebook page.
Arts Award was created through a partnership between Arts Council England and Trinity College London. Our Chief Executive Alan Davey said: 'We believe that every child and young person should have the opportunity to experience the richness of the arts. We know that Arts Award motivates more young people to develop their creativity, opening doors into the professional arts world and supporting the next generation of artists and art leaders.
'We are grateful for our close and continuing collaboration with Trinity College London and look forward to many more young people gaining Arts Award recognition in the years to come.'
Arts Award is available in arts centres, colleges and schools, community projects, libraries, galleries, local authorities, theatres, youth clubs and youth justice settings.
Young people aged 11-25 can work towards awards through any arts or media activities, as artists or in 'behind the scenes' roles. Awards are at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, national qualifications at Levels 1, 2 and 3.
