Panama’s First Lady supports dancers and dance students to travel to Russia

Eleven dancers of Panama’s National Ballet and 5 students of the National Dance School received financial support from the Marta Linares de Martinelli, Panama’s First Lady, to travel to Saint Petersburg, Russia to take part in the International Ballet Festival Open Dance, that will celebrate its tenth anniversary from 30 March to 05 April.

These dancers, that were chosen after having taken part at the latest contest of “21st Century Stars”, will receive special training. At the prize-giving ceremony, the First Lady, named arts godmother given her interest and support to national culture, congratulated the artists for their efforts at achieving excellence in their art form and invited them to take advantage of this unique and great opportunity of being part of such important dance event.

On her behalf, María Eugenia Herrera de Victoria, INAC’s General Director, thanked the First Lady for her everpresent and unconditional support to the arts in Panama.

Gloria Barrios, Executive Director of the National Ballet, highlights the fact that the dancers and students will be trained by professors of Saint Petersburg’s Vaganova Academy, one of the most prestigious Ballet Schools worldwide from which talented dancers have graduated.
