NCCA website named anew as the best E-government website in 12th Philippine Web Awards

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts’ official web site: http://www.ncca.gov.ph has been named anew as the “Best E-government Web Site” in the 12th Philippine Web Awards (PWA) held at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City last April 8, 2011.

This is the second time that the NCCA web site won the said prestigious juror’s prize over the other E-government web sites contenders, the first award clinched in 2009.  Joining the NCCA web site as finalists this year under the said category were the web sites of the Government Insurance System (http://gsis.gov.ph), Philippine Postal  Corporation (http://philpost.gov.ph), UP Manila National Telehealth Center (http://plone.telehealth.ph), and the Philippine Community eCenter Portal (http://philcecnet.ph).

NCCA Programmer Mark Anthony Cruzat, and Web/Graphics Artist Ryan Arengo received the award on behalf of the NCCA. The NCCA web site team, composed of Arengo, Cruzat, and Web Content Editor Reinerio Alba, is under the NCCA Management Information Systems Office headed by Myra E. Brucelo.

The award for best E-government web site is awarded specifically to web sites that provide government information and services, covering the web sites of government departments and government agencies. The NCCA web site passed through the semi-finals round based on points system until it reached the finals round in March 2011.

The other 15 categories of PWA are the following: Arts and Portfolio, Blogs, Celebrities and Personalities, Community and Portal, Corporate, E-Commerce, E-Government, E-LGU, Entertainment, E-Services, Lifestyle and Leisure, News and Zines, Organizations, Personal, Schools, SMEs, and IE-ntegrated WebApps, a special category sponsored by Microsoft Philippines. The entries were judged according to five criteria: Content, Design, Functionality, Technologies Used, and Originality.

Among the judges during the finals round are the following: Eugene Azucena, of Singapore-based NeoedgePte Ltd; Lemuel Rodolfo Braña of Solutionquest International Corporation; Allan Joseph Batac of WorkerBee.TV; Angelo Jacinto of UNICEF EAPRO; Regnard Raquedan of Raquedan Consulting; and Enrique Sulat of The Design People.

The Philippine Web Awards is an annual search that recognizes the best Filipino-created web sites and honors the individuals and teams behind them. First held in 1997, the PWA has recognized and honored outstanding Filipino talent and creativity in the fields of Web design and development.

The  PWA is organized and produced by Media G8way Corporation (MGC), publisher of two of the country’s leading IT publications, Computerworld Philippines and PC World Philippines. The company is also the exclusive Philippine representative of the global IT information giant International Data Group (IDG).
