IFACCA,
29 March 2012, Chile

We are delighted to announce that Magdalena Moreno Mujica, recently appointed Head of the International Division at the National Council for Culture and the Arts, Chile, has been appointed as a member of the IFACCA board.

Ms Moreno was nominated by the President of the National Council for Culture and the Arts, Minister Luciano Cruz-Coke, to fill a vacancy created on the board by the departure of Gonzalo Martin de Marco as Deputy National Director of the National Council for Culture and the Arts. Her term will conclude at the time of the next election in January 2014. With the 6th World Summit on Arts and Culture being held in Santiago de Chile in January 2014, Ms Moreno’s contribution to the board will be extremely valuable.

From 2009 to 2011 Ms Moreno served as the CEO of Australia-based Kultour – Australia’s national body supporting cultural diversity in the arts and played an active role in the framework for Australia's National Cultural Policy 2012-2022. Prior to Kultour, she was Director of the South Project: an international cross-cultural project creating platforms for south-south dialogue and collaborations across the southern hemisphere.

Migrating to Australia from Chile in 1991, Ms Moreno continued her university studies in Melbourne. After graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts (The University of Melbourne) in 1997, she undertook an ethics research fellowship in Paris (based at UNESCO) as the 1999 recipient of the Keith and Elisabeth Murdoch Fellowship. Ms Moreno has extensive international experience having resided in many countries across the world and is passionate in advocating for the role arts and culture play in living a rich and fulfilling life. She defines herself as a change agent and is committed to creating platforms for meaningful cultural and artistic development.

We welcome Ms Moreno to the board.
