Ministry of Culture developing a plan for the Afrodescenaent population

The announcement was made during the presentation of the report "Afro-descendants in Peru: an approach to their reality and the exercise of their rights," presented by the Research Team Leader in Human Rights Ombudsman, César Cárdenas . The activity was conducted as part of the activities that the Ministry of Culture had prepared for Cultural Diversity Day.

The process of implementing this plan is expected to involve all sectors of the civil society and the state . "We will have a series of ministerial dialogues to determine the capabilities of each sector in order to serve this population and allevaite, in part, problems in education, health, employment and poverty, said Lay.

For example in health, 70% of Afro-Peruvians who suffered from an illness or accident did not go to a health center. About 60% of chronic diseases was Afro-Peruvian families, higher than 11 points over the national average.
