The Minister of Culture and Sports Charles Batzin, participated on Saturday May 26 at the First Regional Meeting on Youth, Values, Art and Culture of Peace in in Sacatepequez, Chimaltenango and Guatemala, Oxlajuj b'aktun. The event was attended by Indigenous Authorities, Municipal and hundreds of young people from the participating regions.
The Minister said in his speech that his ministry continue to support young people and women, through culture, sport and recreation providing adequate space for the development of these sectors.
The event included the participation of Indigenous princesses as well as workshops and exhibitions related to the shift to a new era Oxlajuj b'aktun, in 2012.
The purpose of the activity was to recognize the identity of Guatemalans through cultural values and maximum potential arising in Guatemala, and to promote social, economic, technological, political, academic and spiritual development of women and youth, who in this way are actors of peace, development and democracy in the country.
The Ministry of Culture and Sport supports and contributes in all socio-cultural events which promote the values in the population to build a country in peace and harmony.
