European members of the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) gathered in Helsinki after the Midsummer weekend for the 8th European Chapter meeting.

The three-day meeting was co-hosted by the Arts Council of Finland and began with a meeting of researchers from the member organisations.

The meeting of researchers included self-evaluation models and benchmarking for national grant-giving organisations, as well as indicators and measuring the impact of funding for culture and the arts. The European member organisations discussed matters such as art administration reforms, which have been implemented or taking place recently in many European countries.

The development of WorldCP, the international database of cultural policies was also discussed. WorldCP is being developed on the model of Compendium maintained by the Council of Europe and ERICarts.

Ann Branch, Head of the Culture Programme and Actions Unit at the European Commission, presented the European Union’s new funding programme “Creative Europe”. The aim is that actors in the fields of culture and the creative industries could apply for funding from the new programme by 2014.
