Welsh Government,
13 September 2012, Wales

A joint review of the way the arts and education sectors work together in Wales.

The Minister for Education and Skills, Leighton Andrews and Minister for Housing, Regeneration and Heritage, Huw Lewis have agreed that there will be a joint review of the way the arts and education sectors work together in Wales. This includes all forms of support for the arts in schools.

A task and finish group has been set up to take the work of the review forward. This will be chaired by the Chair of the Arts Council of Wales, Professor Dai Smith.

The focus of the review is on improving the quality and range of arts in schools. Members of the group are looking at what schools are doing to encourage participation in the arts, how the arts sector engages with schools and what opportunities are available for learners.

The Task and Finish Group particularly consider that input from schools, educational establishments, artists and art organisations is essential to inform their discussions. All schools, educational establishments, artists and art organisations are encouraged to respond.

If you wish to participate please complete and submit the appropriate questionnaire by 19 October 2012.
