Cultural budget for 2013

In the Government's Budget Bill for 2013, the Creative Schools initiative is expanded to also include the preschool class, and SEK 17 million will be allocated to the initiative annually. A total of SEK 75 million is allocated to Umeå Capital of Culture 2014, and a cultural heritage initiative covering several museums will be implemented.

The budget in the sphere of culture amounts to approximately SEK 6.8 billion for 2013. The budget for culture has increased by some SEK 914 million since 2006. This corresponds to an increase of about 15 per cent. Between 2012 and 2013, the budget will increase by SEK 184 million, which corresponds to about 2.8 per cent.
