Peña Nieto appoints head of culture

President elect, Enrique Peña Nieto, appointed María Cristina García Cepeda as head of culture in his governmental transition team.

García Cepeda will take on this task once she leaves her position as Executive Coordinator of the National Auditorium, informed the príista team through a communiqué.

María Cristina García Cepeda has been a cultural promoter for the last 35 years. During her administration of the Auditorium located at Paseo de la Reforma, she was awarded the Pollstar and Billboard Prizes for best international venue.

She was also General Director of Festival Internacional Cervantino from 1988 to 1990, Executive Secretary of Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (CONACULTA) from 1994 to 2000 and Executive Secretary of Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA) from 1991 to 1994, among other responsibilities.
