From 18 to 20 October at the University "Antonio Ruiz de Montoya," the city of Lima, the Ministry of Culture will hold a training session for regional government officials from around the country. The session is organized by the Vice Ministry of Interculturality of the Ministry of Culture. This is the first specialized course on the right to consultation and it is aimed at government officials who are responsible for its implementation as described in Law N ° 29,785 'Right to consultation for Indigenous or native people’, recognized in the Convention No. 769 of the International Labor Organization / ILO. The training will include the participation of specialists from the Ministry of Culture, International Labour Organization and the University "Antonio Ruiz de Montoya".

It should be mentioned that according to the existing regulatory framework, different sectors are required to carry out consultation processes of the legislative or administrative measures that may directly affect the collective rights of Indigenous peoples, so that different governmental sectors must adapt or adopt procedures consistent with the provisions of Law No. 29,785 and its regulations, approved by Supreme Decree No. 001-2012-MC. The Regional Government of Loreto has enhanced the participation of officials, who will be responsible for the implementation of existing regulations on that topic.
