Democratization of culture

Ministry of Culture,
13 December 2012, Mexico

The head of the National Council for Culture and the Arts, Rafael Tovar y de Teresa, accompanied President Enrique Peña Nieto during Inauguration of the Musical Arts Center in Tijuana, Baja California.

There, the President noted that one of the main objectives that the Government is seeking is the democratization of culture, meaning to really bring the spaces and products of Mexican culture to everyone.

He celebrated the opening of the Musical Arts Center in Tijuana that, as he said, has allowed children and young people to access cultural life with the support and participation of the federal government, state government, municipal governments, and private sector, through various associations and companies.

“Tijuana has achieved to make culture a space for plural democratic participation," he said.
