Call for Proposals - Partners for Project on Intangible Cultural Heritage in Education

UNESCO Bangkok,
13 February 2013, Thailand

This project aims to develop guidelines, methodologies and materials for teachers to incorporate intangible cultural heritage (ICH) into teaching and learning in order to reinforce cultural diversity as a core part of sustainability. The long‐term expected impact will be to enable teachers to gain a renewed appreciation of the relevance of their ICH as a mainspring of cultural diversity and a guarantee of sustainable development. At the same time, it will also open up new pathways of inter‐generational transmission that is central to the vitality of ICH.

The selected organization will identify and review good practices and develop principles and/or
methodologies for incorporating ICH into teaching and learning in schools. Then pilot projects in four
selected countries will be conducted by national teams to develop locally‐customized modules and materials for incorporating ICH into teaching and learning in schools, using the principles and methodologies developed by the in the earlier stage by the contractor. Lastly, the project will wrap up with policy‐level advocacy activities to showcase achievements and share lessons learned from the pilot projects with educational decision makers from across the Asia‐Pacific region.

The timeline for the project is from March - December 2013, and the deadline for applications is 28 February 2013.
