The Green mobility guide for the performing arts English Edition, produced in 2011 by Julie’s Bicycle and On The Move, shows directors, tour managers, light designers and other professionals from the performing arts how to “green” their touring practices.

The Guide is the result of a partnership between Julie’s Bicycle – a London based not for profit organization working on sustainability within the creative industries - and On the Move - an NGO active since 2002 in the provision of information about the mobility of artists and cultural professionals of all fields and disciplines. All five versions of the guide are available for free download from On the Move’s website and Julie’s Bicycle website.

The Green mobility guide provides practical tips, check-lists, and industry examples to demonstrate best practice on sustainability for all parts of the touring process. Now available in five languages, this means a much wider audience can develop environmentally sustainable touring practices.

The guide contains a glossary, a summary of the key issues and risks, and refers to essential texts and international agreements to give a global overview of the issue.

Each translation of the Green mobility guide has been supported by a different national sponsor, with a commitment to the international mobility of artists and the environment. The French version has been funded by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication; the Italian version by the Piedmont Region via the Association C’era L’acca; the German version by ITI – Germany and IGBK; and the Chinese version by the Mission of the Chinese People Republic to the EU.
