Ministry of Culture presents Cultural Information System

The Ministry of Culture of Ecuador presented the Cultural Information System on 11 April at the Center for Contemporary Art.

This system constitutes an online platform available to all stakeholders in order to address the themes linked to culture and to facilitate the processes of participation in calls to competitive funds, auspices and festivals; as well as to establish a directory of artists and cultural managers; and to locate and display cultural resources, among other actions through the subsystems

1. Subsystem of Citizen Incentives for Culture (SICC) has as an objective to respond to the proposals of different funds, festivals and sponsorships through a Web portal, and maintain an updated database of projects presented by the citizen.


2. Database of Cultural Actors (Ruac) information platform comprising artists, cultural workers, community activists, researchers, academics and cultural service providers. It is an register of infrastructures and public exhibition spaces, private and community laboratories, groups and networks of production, cultural actors and movements for the creation, production, research, promotion and circulation of topics, projects and processes related to culture.

As a national culture directory, the Ruac will permit to know the reality of cultural actors linked to the institutions of the National Culture System.


3. Subsystem of Cultural Project Management (SAPC) to manage and follow up cultural projects of the Ministry of Culture through a centralized database. The SAPC is a Web application, therefore, you must access it through a web browser such as Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer or Google Chrome via the following address: http://gestionproyectos.ministeriodecultura.gob.ec


4.  Atlas of Infrastructures and Cultural Heritage of Ecuador (AIPCE) which aims to identify and map existing cultural resources in the country and locate and display both the heritage sites and cultural spaces.


5. Music and Sound Atlas of Ecuador (AMSE), project built in the year 2010 whose final product is a DVD that contains the sound systematization of 15 indigenous nations in our country, aware that the Ecuador's sound heritage is the historical memory of peoples and livelihoods of cohesion and the construction of new identities.

These five subsystems are designed to provide cultural and heritage sector, the public and policy makers information that is reliable, timely, complete and current. With these actions, the Ministry of Culture of Ecuador fulfills its leading role of  cultural policy, strengthens its open nature and democratizes culture.
