ISESCO to organize regional seminar on protection of heritage and participatory management in cultural policies in Morocco

Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO),

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), jointly with the Moroccan National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and in coordination with the Directorate of Cultural Heritage of Morocco’s Ministry of Culture, will organize a regional seminar to raise awareness about the new concept of heritage and participatory management in cultural policies, in Chefchaouen (north of Morocco), on 26-28 April 2013.

Participants will discuss the new concept of heritage, investment in heritage to promote cultural tourism and achieve sustainable development, heritage and its openness on the human and environmental surroundings, use of ICT’s in preserving the heritage, and participative management in cultural policies.

Will take part in this event experts in the cultural heritage from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Mauritania, Morocco, the Sudan, Tunisia and Yemen.

Dr Abdelaziz Salah Salem, archaeology expert at the Culture and Communication Directorate, will supervise this regional seminar on behalf of ISESCO. He will also present a documented report on ISESCO’s efforts in protecting civilizational heritage as part of the Islamic Heritage Committee’s mandate.
