The "Worthy Bulgarians" awards presented

The "Worthy Bulgarian" awards were presented today in the presence of Prime Minister Marin Raykov and Culture Minister Vladimir Penev.

The awards of the initiative, spearheaded by "24 hours", which is also supported by the BNT, were presented at a ceremony in the hall of the Archaeological Museum in Sofia, which brought together the 31 nominees for the title of "Worthy Bulgarian".

Mario Tikhomirov of Belogradchik was awarded the grand prize. 15-year-old Mario Tikhomirov, at the risk of his own life rescued 8-year-old Misho, who had fallen into a rocky crevice near the Summer Theatre in Belogradchik.

Among the awarded were also:


Momtchil Trandev - a lifeguard from the Golden Sands, who participated in the rescue of 18 people from drowning on July 29th last year.

Inspectors Yordan Ivanov and Vencislav Dimitrov and  policemen Dian Nedeltchev, Zlatko Zlatev and Ivaylo Datchev from the Fourth Police Precinct in Varna who prevented three suicides at the Asparouhov bridge in 13 hours.


After the ceremony of some of the laureates asked for photos, and autographs with Minister Vladimir Penev.
