Music Sector Review - Final Report for Creative Scotland

EKOS | Creative Scotland,
31 May 2013, Scotland

A review of the music sector in Scotland has been published today, Wednesday 4 September, 2013.

Carried out for and on behalf of the music sector in Scotland, the study is intended to provide an overview of music in Scotland together with suggestions for future activity that will help the on-going creative and economic growth of the sector.

The independent study, commissioned by Creative Scotland, has been carried out by EKOS, in partnership with Nod Knowles Productions and Judith Ackrill Associates. The purpose of the review is to recognise areas of strength as well as gaps in provision and to use this information to identify opportunities and to help inform future funding policy and operations.

The study makes a series of detailed recommendations for actions to improve the overall health of music in Scotland as a vibrant and resonant form of cultural expression, and as an important industry.

Caroline Parkinson, Director of Creative Development, commented:

“Creative Scotland is committed to effectively supporting a thriving creative future for Scotland’s music sector, we look forward to working with those across the sector to prioritise the actions outlined in the review.”
