Minister of Culture participates in the activities of the 8th Islamic Conference of Ministers of Culture

The State of Qatar was keen on taking the necessary actions and adopting the suitable mechanisms to contribute to the implementation of the cultural strategy of the Islamic world.

HE Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Dr. Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari affirmed that the State of Qatar appreciates the efforts of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and its continuous follow-up of the implementation of the cultural strategy of the Islamic world as it represents a reference document for the joint Islamic cultural work that emphasizes the Islamic civilization identity and proves its ability to deal with the various cultures.

In his address to the 8th Islamic conference of Culture Ministers, HE Dr. Hamad  stressed that the State of Qatar was keen, since the ratification of the Islamic world’s cultural strategy on taking the necessary actions and adopting the suitable mechanisms to contribute to the implementation of this strategy. He pointed out that a series of mechanisms were implemented to consolidate human rights and enable dialogue between culture. "some measures were taken in this respect such as holding seminars and conferences, paying more attention to the woman and helping her perform her role, establishing institutions and relevant committees, giving special attention to the Arabic language and teaching it to non-Arabic speakers through specialized programs at Qatar University and other educational institutions in addition to  including elements of the cultural strategy in Qatar national legislations to legitimize them and give them the implementation force," he added.

HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage said, “ the choice of Al-Madina Al-Munawara as capital of the Islamic culture for the current year brings us closer to the biography of our great prophet, peace be upon him, and enables us to draw conclusions and lessons from his immigration to Al-Madina Al-Munawara, as we are in need of a new immigration from our weak and vulnerable present to a stronger and prideful future inspired by the spirit and the great values of justice, equality  and human dignity of the Islam.
HE Dr. Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari also praised the role of the ISESCO in the implementation of the cultural strategy and expressed his appreciation of the efforts made by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and its continuous follow-up of the Islamic world’s implementation of cultural strategy since its ratification during the summit conference of Dakar 1991. He stated that the strategy represents a reference document for the joint Islamic cultural work which aims to highlight the Islamic cultural identity and prove its ability to deal with the various cultures and interact with the different aspects of this century's issues as well as with the intellectual and literary works.

He said, “Our conference comes as part of these continuous efforts made by the organization, which are based on the Islamic world’s cultural strategy to adopt the project of the Islamic declaration of cultural rights. The conference also expresses the collective will of the member states and their keenness on addressing the issues that serve the Islamic civilization, the participation of the world society and the support of the efforts made to lay the foundations for installing the cultural rights as an integral part of the human rights system.

HE the Minister expressed his wish that the conference would come out with outcomes and recommendations that live up to the ambitions stressing that our Islamic culture is a universal culture which recognizes the unity of humanity despite the differences that distinguish each community, and coves all areas of life, including thoughts, sayings, deeds and behaviors.

HE Dr. Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari concluded his speech by thanking Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Othman Al-Twejri, Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and all the members of the General Secretariat for the huge efforts they made in the preparation and the organization of this conference to achieve the desired goals. HE Dr. Hamad also extended his thanks to Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Mohye Al-Deen Khouja, Minister of Culture and Information of Saudi Arabia for his good efforts and outstanding abilities, which paved the way for the conference and his wise leadership that contributed to the achievement of the intended outcomes of this conference.
