Doha and Brasilia sign a Twinning Agreement

As part of the program of the cultural year “Qatar – Brazil 2014” Doha Municipality and Brazilia signed yesterday a Twinning Agreement during a press conference held at the education center of the Islamic Art Museum. The conference was attended by HE Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Dr. Hamad Bin Abulaziz Al-Kuwari, the Governor of the Federal District of Brasilia, Agnelo Queiroz, the architect Mohammed Ahmed Al-said, Director of Doha municipality, the Brazilian Ambassador to Qatar and a large number of guests from both sides.

The Twinning Agreement was signed by the architect Mohammed Ahmed Al-said, Director of Doha Municipality and Agnelo Queiroz, Governor of the Federal District of Brasilia. In his address on the occasion of the signature, Mohammed Ahmed Al-said, Director of Doha Municipality welcomed the guests of Qatar in its Capital Doha, wishing for them success in their mission and in their contribution to achieve prosperity for their fellow citizens and their city. He added: “We are pleased to express the relations of friendship and cooperation with the Brazilian people through this agreement that emphasizes the good relationships between the municipalities and institutions in the different fields.” He also extended to his guests and the members of the accompanying delegation, the greetings of the inhabitants of Doha.

For his part, the Governor of the Federal District of Brasilia, Agnelo Queiroz welcomed the guests and the officials who attended the conference by saying: “I take this opportunity to express my happiness to sign this twinning agreement with Doha, which is known all around the world for being one of the most beautiful and important towns, especially that it will host the 2022 World Cup. In this context, HE Dr. Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari, Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage said: “The signing of the twinning agreement between Doha and Brasilia is a significant historical moment in the relationship between the two countries.” HE Dr. Hamad also pointed that Brazil is an important country, culturally, economically and in the field of sports, stressing that the choice of this time to sign the agreement was not made randomly. “Therefore, we are determined to make of this year a success that cannot be removed from the memories of both countries. This success will have a great impact on the economic, social, cultural, and sport relationships between the two countries,” he added, pointing that the Brazil was known for its cultural diversification.

HE Dr. Hamad expressed hope that Brazilian, particularly those who have Arab origins fulfill their role, considering the signing of this agreement one of the most important events of the current year.
