The Department of Regional Development, through the Regional Promotion Strategy supports cultural management in 525 municipalities in 30 provinces.

A promotion team of the Department of Regional Development and collaborators in Boyacá , Antioquia and Santander, are ready to implement the Regional Promotion Strategy planned for this year.

Since its inception in 2010 the Regional Promotion Strategy, has advised close to 600 municipalities in the country through collaboration with culture officers in public entities and cultural managers in municipalities who promote and encourage cultural processes in different regions. This year the program is extended to 73 new municipalities.

This program is implemented under two schemes: the integral one where regional promoters visit 425 municipalities and a second model, in which 100 municipalities receive virtual support through regional contact points. The strategy team consists of 17 regional promoters and 6  culture points, who under the guidance of the Department of Regional Development, are the partners of the Ministry with the communities and local cultural institutions.
Maritza Prada, Secretary of Culture and Tourism in the Department of Santander, says it is vital to strengthen the institutions in the municipalities through this initiative, especially those that do not have public administration of culture.
“Previously there was no Secretary of Culture in Santander and the fact that now we have one is beneficial as we can now have a broad perspective and focus specifically on culture. We will coordinate with the Ministry of Culture so that cultural managers and artists have access to a professional consultation, learn about the regulations that benefit culture and participate in the different calls offered by the state. "

For Alexandra Uribe , Regional Contact Point in Llanos Region , working with the Ministry of Culture has been a platform for consolidation for regions struggling to have an efficient cultural management. " Regional Promotion Strategy helps to dialogue with the municipalities and to strengthen the National Culture System at all levels, as we have been able to form , guide and approach the Ministry of Culture to regions that often lack access to information . "

Two new promoters are involved in this process. One is Luis Alejandro Campos, who describes  his experience : " I have high expectations with managers and leaders that will meet and of course I will endeavor to give all support for cultural processes that require it. No doubt this is a different strategy that reaches the municipalities that are in the most remote areas of the country " , thus achieving greater coordination among the various agencies and effective state presence in the territories.
