On 18 March, the Government presented the bill Easier to Read, on easy-to-read literature, to the Riksdag. The Government proposes that the Swedish Agency for Accessible Media assume responsibility for easy-to-read literature from 2015.

"Everyone must have the right to access culture, literature and news based on their own situation, regardless of reading skill - this is a question of democracy," says Minister for Culture Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth.

The Government also emphasises that the Agency for Accessible Media should be a national knowledge centre for easy-to-read and other accessible media. The aim of the national knowledge centre is to compile and disseminate research in the area and thereby strengthen it.
