Teresa Parodi to lead the Ministry of Culture

President Cristina Fernandez swore in Teresa Parodi as the new Minister of Culture in the presence of the whole cabinet, the General Notary of the Government, Natalio Echegaray, and a large number of attendees, while the outgoing Secretary of Culture, Jorge Coscia stood next to her.

The General Notary Natalio Echegaray confirmed the creation of the Ministry according to the Decree 641/14 published today in the Official Gazette and the nomination of Parodi as expressed in the Decree 642/14.
Teresa Adelina Sellarés was born in Corrientes and is a singer and song-writer. In 1999 she won the Golden Camín lifetime achievement award at the National Folklore Festival of Cosquín.


After her swearing in, in brief dialogue with the press, the new head of the new ministry of Culture said "I imagine a ministry of open doors, with the existing policies but with more depth to give visibility to the wonderful cultural diversity of Argentina.”


She considered the creation of the Ministry of Culture as "extraordinary news," and said she was "very excited and honored that the President thinks that I can work from the ministry to continue the cultural management that this Government is doing and that we will continue building.”
